Dr. Lindsey Mock was employed by Columbus College/Columbus State Unviersity from 1961 to 1992. In this interview he discusses his early life, his education, and his tenure at the college. He tells about the early days of Columbus College at the Shannon Hosiery Mill and the move to the new campus. He discusses many events in the history of the college, including the first African American student, the first African American faculty member, the mascot change, the change to a four year college, the addition of student housing, the addition of graduate programs, and the school's first three presidents.

Dr. Lindsey Mock was born in Miller County, Georgia in 1931. His father was a farmer and his mother a homemaker. Because Georgia only had eleven grades when he graduated from high school, he went to the University of Georgia at 16-1/2 years of age. The tuition at that time was $45.00 a quarter. Dr. Mock graduated from UGA in 1952 and joined the army. After serving in the Korean War, he came back to UGA and earned a masters degree and a doctorate in education.
